  • Mary Maguire

    Mary Maguire is my 2nd Great Grandmother. She was born in 1835 in Ireland to Catherine Brady (1810-1890) and Phillip Maguire (1770-1839).

    Mary emigrated to South Australia via the Sophia Moffat ship in 1852. 

    Mary married Michael Smith (1832-1919). 

    One of their children was Michael Joseph Smith (1863-1928), father to my maternal grandmother, Ileen Bridget Smith. 

    Mary died in 1906 in Broken Hill, NSW. She is buried in Broken Hill Cemetery.

    • 1810  – Catherine Brady (my 3rd Great Grandmother – maternal side) is born in Lavey, Ireland. She is the daughter of Thomas Brady (1771-1820) and Bridget Smith (1778-?)

      • Catherine is living with her family in the Townland: Lattagloglan (nearest town: Ballyjamesduff & nearest village: Cross Keys)
        • Her family are living in a 1 storey house on 5 acres of land with:
          • Her father – Thomas, 50 years (Farmer)
          • Her mother – Bridget, 43 years (Wife)
          • Her siblings, Michael, 21 years (Weaver), Daniel, 16 years (Weaver), John, 8 years and Peter, 5 years.

    • Before 1828 – Catherine Brady marries Phillip Maguire (1770-1839). They have two children Bridget and Mary.
    • 1840 – Catherine marries Patrick Weathers (1816-1876). They emigrate to Australia in 1840, travelling as Cabin Passengers. They live in the area of Hanson and Mintaro, South Australia.
